I like to flaunt an ego when I can,

to convince someone of what I wish was certain;

but I am certain that I’ve never convinced anyone.

I have never been the smartest in a room,

the funniest or the best-looking,

the bravest or the most-righteous–

I am none of and all of,

an occupied space behind and around and within,

a stranger caught in the deep manifold of a wormhole;

a fool need not worry what they say

for no one takes the word of a fool seriously,

but if you really cared to listen

I might whisper in your ear:

I’ve never told the truth in my life.
